What is HIGG INDEX?

Developed by the Sustainable Apparel Association (SAC), the Higg Index is a benchmark for assessing the impact of supply chains in the apparel industry on three dimensions: environmental, social, and labor. The purpose of the certification is to inform businesses about the pros and cons of their production and business processes–to promote their growth by offering sustainable improvements and education based on index best-practices.

The HIGG INDEX is determined through a series of qualitative questions about the actual state of the apparel supply chain:

• Impact of specific textile products (Higg Product Tools)
• Materials, packaging, and manufacturing facilities (Higg Facility Tools)
• Product specific practices at the brand level (Higg Brand & Retail Tools)
